Phoenix was found as a stray. She was in terrible shape — emaciated with uncontrollable diarrhea and more than several parasites, including two types of lungworms. Once we got the parasites and diarrhea under control, we noticed that she had an abnormal gait. She had a consult at Animal Surgical Center and it was found that both hips are out of alignment. Phoenix had surgery (FHO - femoral head osteotomy) on her left hip on 7/19/22 which was successful (second video). FHO surgery removes the head of the femur which was not in the right place. By doing this, it creates a false joint so that she can have better range of motion and be pain free. She now awaits surgery on the right.

She is a little shy of humans and appreciates a gentle approach. Once she gets to know you, she leans in for check rubs and the purring begins! She enjoys being petted and is getting more comfortable being picked up.
