We are so thrilled to announce that Pokey (now Phoebe) has found her forever home!

Phoebe was found in a garbage can in Manhattan by a sanitation worker. She was injured with a broken pelvis. The sanitation worker brought her to the police station and the officers there brought her to Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) for help. A plea from ACC was sent to all the rescues and Phoebe was transferred to us. We sent the radiographs to our friends at animalsurgicalcenter who recommended cage rest and then re-evaluation as she grows.

Long-time Ladew supporters, Benjamin and Jim, had recently lost their beloved Ladewbie Fiona and felt that former Ladewbie Flynn was lonely and needed a buddy. As soon as they saw Phoebe they knew she was the one for them.

Yesterday, 2/6/25, Phoebe went home and is busy having everyone fall in love with her. She still may need surgery on her leg in the future, but for now she is in excellent hands with a family (and that includes her Ladew family) that will do whatever she needs. This little girl has so many people smitten with her that even the officer that brought her to ACC called to check in on her!

We’ll miss you Phoebe, but look forward to getting updates!
